March 17, 2010 - PNLD are a not for profit organisation which creates and hosts databases for the criminal justice system
PNLD are a not for profit organisation which creates and hosts databases for the criminal justice system in general and the police service in particular.
They have been providing the public facing, frequently asked questions database found at www.askthe.police.uk for the last five years over which time its usage has grown by 500%.
The database contains nationally consistent answers to over 700 of the general public’s most regularly posed police orientated questions – with links to useful external sites and related information.
Questions can also be asked from the site and are answered by legally qualified personnel.
By accessing this free to view website, the public can quickly find the answers they need and become self empowered having gained the knowledge to make an appropriate decision.
Further information specifically tailored to the needs of the local community can be added to the generic questions and answers – thereby enhancing customer satisfaction.
Some areas now embed this site within their own and include internal links which ensure local communities are kept informed with the added benefit of remaining within their own website.
As the emphasis on collaborative working increases, the Ask the Police website is one which provides an ideal opportunity for local authorities to take advantage of the accumulated content of the site and gain the benefits from shared services.
